SULPHUR ROCK — Sulphur Rock Trolley Car Day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. with the lineup at Sulphur Rock School.
A free community lunch provided by the city will be served beginning at 11 a.m.
A bounce house, face painting, craft vendors, baggos, trolley rides, horseshoe tournament, Sweet Treat Machine truck and entertainment featuring John Parks and Jadon Parks will be enjoyed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A $250 door prize will be given away, and the winner must be present.
The Independence County Retired Teachers Association will meet jointly with the Izard County Association at 10 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Church of Christ in Melbourne.
Insurance Advantage representatives will present the program about how the new Medicare Advantage plan works and will answer questions.
The monthly meeting for the City of Southside will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Southside City Hall, located at 2181 Batesville Blvd.
The agenda will include the monthly financial and street reports.
HARDY — The Spring River Art Guild will have its annual Fall Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at The Gallery at 300 E. Main St. in Hardy.
There is something for everyone.
The Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. There are paintings in all mediums, stained glass, clay items, greeting cards, bookmarks, magnets and jewelry.

Faith-Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church will have a rummage sale fundraiser for Pakistan from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 17 at the church, located at 2895 Harrison St. in Batesville (across from Quail Valley Free Will Baptist Church).
Donations may be dropped off at the church gym on the following dates: 7-8 p.m. Sept. 14, 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 15, and 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 16. Items needed to be donated include books, office equipment, furniture, home decor, vintage items and collectibles, toys and children care items, new or gently used clothing, sports memorabilia and equipment, and more.
Any items not purchased at the sale will be donated to local nonprofit organizations.
Proceeds from the rummage sale will support the Nehemiah Project, a nonprofit organization serving Pakistani communities in need.
The Independence County Public Library Board will meet at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Public Meeting Room of the Independence County Library at 267 E. Main St. in Batesville.
The public is invited to attend.
CORD — The Cord Fire Department Open House and Dedication, including the dedication of the Cord historical marker and the return of the Cord High School senior composites, will be Oct. 1 at Cord Fire Department, located at 8005 Cord Road in Cord.
The open house will begin at 11 a.m., and the dedication ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m.
Dr. David Churchill will be the guest speaker.
Everyone is invited to attend.
The Humane Society of Independence County will host Trivia Night from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Batesville Community Center, located at 1420 20th St. in Batesville.
A 10-person table is $500. A single ticket is $65. Tickets include dinner, entertainment, trivia and a good sense of community. Funds from ticket purchases go directly to supporting the 501(c)(3) Humane Society of Independence County and helping provide care and support for the unwanted and abused dogs and cats in the county. HSIC is 100 percent funded by donations and fund-raising activities.
